What is the Stop Child Poverty campaign?

The focus of the Stop Child Poverty campaign is to raise awareness of child poverty worldwide, and to help everyday world citizens make a difference in the lives of children in need. Stop Child Poverty works to promote the United Nations Millennium Development Goals to halve extreme poverty by 2015.

World leaders in developed nations pledged to increase support to developing countries to reach the goals by 2015. With less than a decade to go, many developed countries are not following through with the promises they made.

Who is behind the Stop Child Poverty campaign?

The Stop Child Poverty campaign is a joint iniative by the Global Volunteer Network (GVN) and the Global Volunteer Network Foundation (GVN Foundation).

GVN is a non-governmental organization based in New Zealand that connects volunteers with communities in need around the world. The GVN Foundation, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization based in Denver, Colorado in the United States, supports the charitable and educational work of local community organizations in various countries through the distribution of financial, in-kind and material donations.

How is the campaign working to stop child poverty?

The Stop Child Poverty campaign aims to end child poverty through mobilizing world citizens to work together and affect change. The campaign will increase awareness about issues affecting children educate people about what they can do in their daily lives to help transform the world. Finally, the campaign will keep governments on track to reach the Millennium Development Goals by reminding them that citizens are deeply concerned about the welfare of developing countries. The campaign will urge world leaders, policy makers and global citizens to look beyond 2015 to a world that embraces the rights of children to live a full, happy, and healthy life.
