Eat So They Can

Interested in getting involved with the Eat So They Can campaign? Here's what you do: host or encourage a friend to host a meal for at least five of your nearest and dearest from $30 per head or whatever you can afford to give. Be it breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner or even drinks, it can be anything from fish and chips to an elaborate multi course affair depending on your talents!

By hosting a meal or encouraging others to host, you could be eligible to be entered into our Grand Prize draw and win an expense paid trip to Kenya! This 10 day trip to Kenya is a once in a life time chance to directly contribute to the lives of hundreds of kids in orphanages and schools throughout Nairobi and help distribute the funds raised from this event! For details, click here.

With your help, GVN and GVN Foundation hopes to recruit 500 hosts around the world, which means 500 meals, and at least $150 000 raised. These funds will be used through our Kenyan Children's Fund and Sustainability Fund to support orphanages in Kenya and provide much needed resources to women and children.

It promises to be a day full of chances: the chance to discuss issues facing the poorest children around the world, the chance to take action, the chance to spend time with friends - the chance to make a difference.

Please take a seat at our global dinner table, visit the website, and sign up as a host today. We need all of you to make this happen. Will you eat so they can?

The Big Push

Write a Letter to Those in Power.

Imagine trying to move a sleeping elephant by yourself. You heave, you prod and you sweat. Now ask someone for help. And another person. And another...

Our governments have made big promises to the people of the world to eradicate poverty. But getting them to move forward on their promise is a little like moving an elephant - you can't do it alone. And now, you don't have to.

The SCP's Big Push is an effort to get ordinary citizens collectively pushing their governments to follow through on the goals they have set to end poverty and embrace human equality and equity. We must, and can, hold them accountable.

At the United Nations Millennium Summit, held in 2000, world leaders pledged their support to end extreme poverty. The resulting UN Millennium Development Goals established a timeline for the world to end extreme poverty by 2015.

World leaders in developed nations pledged to increase support of developing countries to reach the goals by 2015. With less than a decade to go, however, many countries are not following through with their promises.

The Big Push will keep governments on track by reminding them that citizens are invested and concerned about the welfare of developing countries. Along with helping governments reach the Millennium goals, the Big Push will also urge world leaders, policy makers and global citizens to look beyond 2015 to a world that embraces the rights of children to live a full, happy and healthy life.

By joining the SCP campaign, you will receive regular Big Push updates and actions you can take on both a local and national level to push your government toward ending poverty
